About
Brushwright helps homeowners and renters in the United States and Canada plan paint jobs: how much paint to buy, what a project costs, and which products suit which walls.
Why this site exists
Most paint calculators give you a single number and no explanation. Most painting articles bury the answer under a long introduction. We wanted the opposite: the answer first, the math in plain view, and a shopping list you can take to the store.
How we work
Every calculator shows its formula and the coverage rate it uses, so you can check the result yourself. Coverage rates, drying times and product details come from manufacturers’ published data sheets and labels. Prices in our cost guides name their sources and the date we checked them. Our editorial policy explains the process in full.
Built for both sides of the border
The site works in feet and gallons or metres and litres. Where Canada and the United States differ, such as can sizes, prices, climate and painting season, we cover both.
How the site is funded
The site may show advertising and may earn a commission when you buy through some links to stores. That never decides what we recommend. Our disclosure explains how this works.
