Editorial policy
This page explains how guides and calculators on Brushwright are researched, written, checked and kept up to date.
The answer comes first
Each guide starts with a direct answer to the question in its title. The explanation, worked examples and exceptions follow.
Sources
We rely on primary sources: manufacturers’ technical data sheets and product labels for coverage, drying and recoat times; government and regulator websites for safety, disposal and building rules; and named retailers or published surveys for prices. Sources are linked on the page where they are used.
Calculators
Every calculator shows the formula and the values behind its result, including the coverage rate and any allowance for waste. When a source changes, we update the calculator and the page that explains it.
Accuracy and updates
Prices and product lines change. Each page shows the date it was last reviewed. We review cost guides at least once a year and update any page when we find that its information has changed.
Corrections
If you find an error, tell us through the contact page. We correct factual errors promptly and, for significant changes, note the correction on the page.
Use of software and AI tools
We use software, including AI tools, to help with research, drafting and code. Every page is edited by a person, every number is checked against its source, and a person is responsible for everything we publish.
Independence
Advertisers and affiliate partners do not review, approve or influence our content. Product recommendations are based on published specifications, suitability for the job and, where we say so, our own use. How we make money is explained in our disclosure.
